Strategic Planning

CBG’s skilled facilitators work with every form of group, assessing the dynamics, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, challenges, wants and needs, to help develop the strategies and outcomes that lead to a high degree of success in meeting the group mission and in pursuing a bright vision for the future.

Organizational Analysis

  • Conducting interviews, focus groups and questionnaires to obtain baseline information about the organization’s operations and performance from Board of Director members, Committee chairs, the Executive Director, support staff and other pertinent constituents
  • Evaluation of operations and performance versus prior strategic plans, business plans, benchmarks and metrics, including comparative and gap analyses
  • Evaluation of performance versus the existing Mission Statement
  • Performance of a trend analysis to establish future projections versus the organization’s existing Vision Statement

Facilitation of Strategic Planning Sessions

  • Working with the Executive Director and staff to develop logistics for strategic planning, including participants, agenda, format (multi-day retreat, half- or full-day workshop, etc.)
  • Leading the strategic planning session(s), including promotion of invigorating discussion, meaningful dialogue and goal and objective setting
  • Exploration of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges (SWOC) of the organization related to the topics under discussion
  • Development and implementation of various strategic planning exercises (breakout discussions, identifying, grouping and developing strategies, determination of priorities, etc.)

Analysis of Strategic Planning Information and Development of Strategic Directions

  • Analysis of all of the information obtained
  • Assistance in the development of proposed strategic directions, including identifying initiatives and both near and longer term actions to implement the strategic directions
  • Review of budgetary implications related to the proposed strategic directions, initiatives and actions
  • Refinement of elements of the strategic plan based on discussions with the Executive Director, staff and Board members

Written Strategic Plan Development

  • Development of draft strategic plan, including supporting documentation, and facilitation of review and comments by the Executive Director, staff and Board members
  • Development of benchmarks and metrics to evaluate the success of implementation of the plan going forward
  • Finalization of the plan and presentation and discussion with all pertinent constituencies of the organization
  • Development of plan updates as needed prior to the next round of strategic planning
